vaginal tighteners...

I saw something on Oprah (of all places!!) about something you insert into your vag. to strengthen it. I think it was called a "vaginal comb" do any of you all know what I'm talking about??

Re: vaginal tighteners...

Vaginal cones. They are a weight set that look like tampons. I highly recommend them. If you work your way up to the highest weight, GOOD THINGS WILL HAPPEN! Not sure if I can post a link here, but you can get them at aswechange.com

Re: vaginal tighteners...

Zaneblue, I have been wondering, I mentioned before that I had seen "Betty's Barbell," which is sold by Betty Dodson, and I think you said something about that not being as good as the cones. Was that because it was too heavy for a beginner? Or it was too light for a more advanced person? I was wondering....<P>I have not had any improvement in sensation in the nearly 3 years I've been sexually active, and due to another concern, I wonder if I just am too "loose" to feel anything? That was sort of the idea I got a while back, but have since dismissed it. Now, I'm looking back over other ideas, and considering this route. Does strengthening the muscles ever improve sensation??? Thanks.

Re: vaginal tighteners...

I wanted to reply again, as I have been looking at these quite a bit today, and I found these cones quite a bit cheaper than the site Zaneblue recommended. That site sells them for $159, but I found another site that sells the same product by a different brand for only $79, and that is quite a bit cheaper. I compared the weigh and it is identical. Both are sets of 5. The cheaper brand was Stepfree, and I just did a search for FemTone weights (that is the other brand name), and it was the third hit, the site I found them on was drynight dot com. They might be available even cheaper, too. I just wanted to let people know that if you shop around, you might find a MUCH better deal.

Re: vaginal tighteners...

The vaginal cones do help assist in strengthening the pelvic floor muscles, which in turn, helps increase the strength of the contractions during orgasm. If you find that when you insert a cone, it doesn't stay in, then you may want to start with basic kegel exercises, so that you don't get discouraged. Do the kegels for 3-4 weeks, about 1-2 times/day. Make sure you do repetitions, approzimately 10 kegels at a time. The repetitions is what will help make the muscles stronger and have more emdurance. If you do just 2 or 3 in the AM and 2 or 3 in the PM, it won't 'build' the strength in the muscles.
After you have done them consistently for 3-4 weeks, THEN, go back to trying the vaginal cone. Start with the lightest weight for about 1-2 minutes, then increase the time. recommend continuing the basic kegel exercises (without the cone) 1 time/day in addition to using the vaginal cone 1 time/day.
Unfortunately, there is no exact science to 'how often' and 'how many repetitions', because everyone's body is different. Keep trying though! the exercises are good for preventation as well!

Re: vaginal tighteners...

I recently had vaginal burning and painful intercourse, and it turned out that I did not have an infection, but my vaginal walls were thin. The doctor prescribed Estrace vaginal cream, which has been very helpful.
