A Critical New Survey: The Impact on Sexuality When You or Your Partner Have Seen Combat PDF Print E-mail

ImageThe impact of combat on intimacy and sex in relationships is still a scientific mystery. Paul Joannides, a research psychoanalyst and author, has created  two surveys that are an attempt to understand more about this topic and to make that understanding available to others. If you or your partner have seen combat, we ask that you take this survey. Your answers are totally anonymous and the results will be used to help you and others who are in a similar position.

A World Health Organization task force meeting in Geneva in developed some working definitions related to sex, sexuality, and sexual health that provide a useful context in which to discuss sex-related problems, including what can go wrong with orgasm.

Sexual dissatisfactions and disorders do not necessarily imply that a man or woman is  dysfunctional”; the term dysfunction refers to a medical condition—one that can be treated medically. The sexual dysfunctions and disorders of men and women are currently defined in terms of three phases of the “sexual response cycle”: desire, arousal, and orgasm, plus the sexual pain disorders.
