JONAH MURDOCK, M.D., Ph.D. is a university trained urologist who specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgery to treat urologic cancer and other noncancerous conditions. In 1991 he graduated with honors with a B.A. from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and completed a Ph.D. in philosophy at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
In 2003 Dr. Murdock graduated with an M.D. from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois. He completed a general surgery internship and was a resident in general surgery at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. from 2003 to 2005. In 2009 Dr. Murdock completed his residency in urology at Georgetown University Hospital and the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Murdock is a member of the American Urological Association, its Middle Atlantic division, the American College of Surgeons, the Washington Urologic Society, the Endourological Society, the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and a past member of the American Philosophical Association.
He has been a college philosophy teacher and has lectured on topics ranging from ethics to the history and philosophy of medicine. He has published on a wide range of topics, including laparoscopic urologic surgery, ethics, and health care policy. He is married and has two school-age children.
